SUPER STUDENT STUDY SKILLS
It's back! This 5-hour summer clinic, designed by Hillview teacher Lexy Keller, takes place in July and August. Students will learn tips to help them memorize information, stay organized, take notes, study for tests and take tests, and manage their time effectively. This course is designed to prepare students entering 6th through 9th grade for academic success. For more information or to be put on the mailing list, please see the PTO website or contact Lexy Keller at summerstudyskills@yahoo.com. Middle School Success
Ms. Devoto, Hillview counselor, is planning grade level small group tutoring sessions for students entering grades 6, and 7. Also included in each session will be math review (individually based on students' math level), check in's on summer reading progress, and a writing prompt that will be evaluated and returned to students each week. Ms. Devoto will write the curriculum for the tutoring groups, critique the writing, and oversee the sessions, while the sessions themselves will be taught by college freshmen who will also share with the students the importance of responsibility, organization, and follow through for school success. Space is limited. Contact Debbie Devoto at debdevoto@yahoo.com for more information. Summer Math Review Course
Clear Away the Cobwebs is back! This summer course, developed by Hillview teacher Lynn Eisner and taught this summer by Sayre Dolan, is for any student planning to take high school Algebra in the fall (any student currently enrolled in the 2A or 3R math course). The course is intended to get students' minds thinking mathematically before the school year begins. Please see the flyer for more information. |

Physicals are REQUIRED FOR ALL ATHLETES AT M-A. Saturday May 31, from 8:30-11:30am at BAK Physical Therapy, 705 Oak Grove Ave., Menlo Park, 363-5674 . The physical is good for all three sport seasons next year. Cost is $20 (cash, check, or credit card). NO APPOINTMENT NECESSARY. For more information, email amyjamison@hotmail.com. M-A Bound 8th Graders:
Integrate the 8 will acquaint freshmen with the school's most commonly used facilities through their participation in an interactive scavenger hunt involving their future classmates (school tour). The incoming students will be randomly divided into several groups, and the leadership class will devote the morning to answering questions about M-A, informing the new students of opportunities they will have and possible obstacles they may encounter in their four years at M- A. This experience will hopefully help the class of 2012 to become a confident, friendly, and integrated body of kids. We expect students from every feeder school to attend this event. The date is set for Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.; lunch will be provided. If you have any questions you can email Andy Stuart, Activities Director at M-A at astuart@seq.org.
