Attention Parents of 7th and 8th Graders! Parent volunteers are needed to help out with Community Service Projects. This is a chance to work directly with students doing some wonderful work for our community and the world. Last year over 250 Hillview students got involved and accomplished some GREAT things.

Come find out how you can be a part of one of these projects by attending a parent volunteer meeting on Wednesday, October 18, at 10:45 a.m. in the Hillview Library. Please RSVP to Debbie Devoto at ddevoto@mpcsd.org.

Last week students brought home an envelope designed for recycling used inkjet cartridges and instructions on how to do so. This initial envelope can also be used to recycle old cell phones. Proceeds from recyclable inkjet cartridges benefit the Hillview PTO. More envelopes are available from a dispenser in the office and should be used for cartridges only.

For information on cell phone recycling and other recycling tips, visit the Recycling Guide on the PTO website. For more information, contact Catherine McMillan at gregandcat@aol.com.

Every year, families across our District support the Menlo Park Atherton Education Foundation (MPAEF) to fund the Fab Five essential programs - libraries, science, technology, music and teaching excellence. This year we are centering the Annual Giving Campaign around a single Donation Day on Tuesday, November 7. Donation Day gets giving to our District done in a day! A MPAEF information packet (including a donation envelope) will be mailed to you in the next few days with details about the Foundation and Donation Day.

Make giving fast and easy! On Tuesday, November 7, drop your donation envelope in the MPAEF box at Laurel, Encinal, Oak Knoll or Hillview, or log on to www.mpaef.org and donate on-line. Remember, every dollar donated will bring us closer to our $2 million goal, so please give at whatever level you feel comfortable. Don’t Forget to Get Out and Give!

The Homework Club bus for Tinsley families is now available on Mondays and Wednesdays. Letters were sent home with stops, times, and permission slips.
